Product Introduction
The rail that runs around the very top of the cage is the IBC top horizontal tube, and it does more work than its size suggests. In a stacked warehouse it receives the entire weight of the container above. In a single unit it keeps the cage from splaying outward. On the loading dock a crane or clamp often picks the unit up by it. Because the load path funnels through this member, we build the IBC top horizontal tube from a slightly heavier section than the mid rails and keep the corner welds under tight control. Customers who have watched a top rail fail tend to ask for this one by name after that.

Features
We roll the top rail from a heavier galvanized hollow section than the mid tubes.
Corner radius and joint detail follow the vertical posts, which gives a clean weld.
Flattened, drilled ends suit bolted or pinned assembly when a knock-down cage is preferred.
The weld zone is reinforced and the zinc kept clear, so penetration runs full.

Working Principle
Stacking Load: Put a full IBC on top of another and the whole upper weight lands on the lower top rail, mostly at the four corners. The rail spreads that point load along its length and hands it to the vertical posts, so corner weld integrity is the first check.
Splay Control: Liquid pushes the liner outward all the way up. The top rail closes that loop at the top of the cage; the horizontal tubes handle the middle, and the IBC top horizontal tube handles the rim.
Lifting Interface: When a unit is craned or clamp-handled, the top rail is the contact point. A flat, continuous rail face gives the clamp something predictable to bite on, and it spreads the squeeze over the whole rim instead of one corner.
