IBC Vertical Frame Tube

IBC Vertical Frame Tube

The upright member of an IBC cage is the vertical frame tube, the post that stands the cage up and carries load straight down to the pallet. Horizontal tubes give the box its rigidity, but the verticals carry the weight of a full container and everything stacked on top of it. For that reason we hold the IBC vertical frame tube to a tighter straightness tolerance than the other members.

Product Introduction

The upright member of an IBC cage is the vertical frame tube, the post that stands the cage up and carries load straight down to the pallet. Horizontal tubes give the box its rigidity, but the verticals carry the weight of a full container and everything stacked on top of it. For that reason we hold the IBC vertical frame tube to a tighter straightness tolerance than the other members. A vertical that bows under load transfers uneven contact pressure onto the liner and the pallet, and corner cracks tend to start there. We form ours from galvanized hollow section with the foot and top detail already worked in, ready to drop into the jig and weld.

Features

We form the upright posts from galvanized hollow section and hold them straight within tight tolerance.

Bottom foot and top cap details arrive pre-formed to fit standard pallets and top rails.

The section is heavy enough to take full-container compressive load without bowing.

Hot-dip galvanizing to ISO 1461 helps the IBC vertical frame tube keep its coating at ground level, where moisture sits.

Hole positions match the horizontal tube pitch, which speeds up jig assembly.

Standard 1000 L heights and custom heights for taller liners are both available.

Corner guards pair with the post, so forklift impacts do not bend it out of line.

A tight length tolerance lets a set of four posts go together without shimming.

Working Principle

Column Action: A vertical tube in a loaded IBC is a short column. It does not bend; it takes compression and passes it straight down into the pallet. Keep the IBC vertical frame tube straight and the load spreads to the corner feet as designed. Let it bow and the load migrates to the liner.

Stacking Load: When IBCs are stacked four or five high, the bottom verticals carry the whole stack. We check wall thickness and weld penetration on the verticals harder than on any other member in the cage.

Base Connection: The foot detail spreads the post load across the pallet plate instead of concentrating it at one weld. A clean, continuous weld at the foot stops the corner from working loose after thousands of handling cycles.

Applications

Cage corner posts for standard 1000 L and 1200 L IBC containers.

Taller posts for high-cube liners and non-standard container heights.

Replacement posts in refurbishment programmes, where a bent corner is cut out and re-welded.

Steel-hybrid cages that combine vertical posts with pressed pallet components.

Units in multi-high racking where post straightness sets the whole stack's stability.
